FG winning fight against Boko Haram as Airstrike destroy terrorist’s base in Borno

The Defence Headquarters says the Air Task Force of Operation Lafiya Dole (OPLD) on Monday, destroyed the logistics base of the Boko Haram/Islamic States of West Africa Province (ISWAP) at Njimia on the fringes of Sambisa Forest in Borno.
The Coordinator, Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. John Enenche, during a statement on Tuesday in Abuja, said the operation was in continuation of the onslaught against terrorist targets within the North East.
Enenche said the feat was achieved following credible intelligence reports also as series of Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions.
He added that the mission led to the identification of the nondescript cluster of structures within the settlement getting used by the terrorists to deal with their fuel and other logistics.
According to him, the Air Task Force dispatched an appropriate Force Package of fighter and a surveillance platform to require out the target.
The Nigerian Air Force attack assets scored precise hits in their bombing runs on the target area, totally destroying the logistics stores as well as causing serious damage to several other BHT structures in the settlement.
“The Chief of the Air Staff lauds the Air Task Force for their professionalism and directs them to remain firm towards eliminating the terrorists from the North East,”
He said the ambush happened eight kilometers before Buni-Gari in Gujba government Area of Yobe resulting in the killing of two soldiers while three other soldiers sustained injuries as a results of the IED explosion.
According to him, a recovery truck, one troops carrying vehicle and a water tanker that saw the IED were destroyed by fire.
“Three terrorists were neutralised, while unconfirmed number escaped with various degrees of injury.
“The soldiers of Nigeria will remain unwavering in its quest to finish the terrorism and can do everything possible to make sure there’s no repeat of this type of traumatic incident.
“The Military supreme headquarters commends troops of Operation Lafiya Dole for his or her unwavering determination, hardwork and resilience,” he said.
