Governor Wike attributes 60% of COVID 19 cases in state to returning oil rig workers

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has stated that 60 per cent of coronavirus cases recorded within the state are from oil workers coming back from rigs.
Governor Nyesom Wike unveiled this when the Management Team of Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited paid him a courtesy visit at Government House in Port Harcourt.
He stated that it’s for this reason that the government has insisted that oil workers coming into the state must be tested to verify their coronavirus status.
Governor Nyesom Wike said that the Nigeria Air Force Base in Port Harcourt has recently quarantined 14 oil workers, which three tested positive, even as he commended Exxon Mobil for her gesture.
“Just yesterday the Nigerian Air Force base quarantined 14 oil workers. Three of them tested positive for COVID-19. You see, those that come from the rig contributes to 60 per cent of the cases we’ve recorded during this state.”
